Funds to be Demonstrated for Student visa

You must demonstrate you have access to the funds required for the first 12 months of your stay in Australia for:

• Tuition (balance not already paid for first 12 months)
• Living costs (see below)
• Return travel to your home country

You can demonstrate your funding by either:

• Deposits or loans with a financial institution; or
• Official government tax return documents showing your annual income
  

Tuition

University students can expect to pay an average of AU$17,500 per semester for Bachelor's of Business, Law, Humanities. Engineering and Science degrees are approximately $20,000 per semester. TAFE and School students can expect to pay an average AU$15,000 per year. 

Living costs

The Department of Home Affairs has updated it's calculations of the expected living costs in Australia for international students. You will be expected to provide bank statements as evidence you have access to AU$29,710. If a partner is coming with you, AU$10,394 additional must be demonstrated. For each accompanying child you must show AU$4,449.

Student visa

Application charges are currently AU$1,600. Medical Examinations are approximately AU$400.

Overseas Student Health Care (OSHC)

We will organise your mandatory OSHC Policy with Allianz Global Assistance. You are charged for the exact policy cost only. Fees as of September 2023 are:

• Single - AU$628
• Couple - AU$4,363 (7 times the cost of a single)
• Family - AU$7,553

Accommodation

On campus accommodation (where available) is AU$200 per week and above.

Private rental accommodation will cost a minimum of AU$300 per week to share,  approximately $400 a week in International Student apartments, and above.

Food, Phone, Transport

Groceries are expensive and an individual can expect to pay at least AU$230 per week. Phone contracts are around AU$75 per month. ​The public transport systems in major Australian cities are very convenient, safe and affordable.
